Richard Lunsford's 140 Gallon Tuff Stuff Stock Tank
1 of 8 Next
140 Gallon Tuff Stuff stock tank with 3 plastic containers (1 a window planter) of varied depth in the bottom, with cypress mulch around them to give a more even bottom. Over this (& the stock tank) was draped a pond liner to create a more naturally contoured irregular bottom with pockets for Fluorite, dirt (the land section, the tallest container), and live plants.

A Duetto DJ-100 (with sponge removed) was used to pump water around the thick bed of Anacharis, which prospered under the 4' shop light (hung from the ceiling with chains) with 3 48" 32-watt T-8 bulbs. Nitrates stayed near zero.

Special Notes: A turtle determined to climb out probably could've. The female Mississippi mud turtle kept here didn't. She did burrow into the land section & aestivate for several weeks on end despite good conditions, plenty of vegetation cover in the water & a basking clamp lamp.
