Wild Adult Texas Cooters (clearly a male on right). Location: Austin, Texas. Photo: Turdle (Wendy). This photo is a good example of natural variability even in the same locale. The left-most cooter has much stronger yellow coloration vs. the right cooter's whiter look. Turdle noted the left-most has green eyes & the right-most bluish-tinted eyes. The 'reverse C' behind the lower jaw (seen in Texas cooters and Common map turtles) is broken on the left cooter, mainly intact on the right cooter. I see one small yellow streak behind the left cooter's eye, two behind the right cooter's eye.
